Backpacks for Children in Need
As you know, the St. Vincent de Paul is organizing the back to school backpack program for children in need!
If you have already signed up to provide a backpack, we ask that you please bring the "prepared" backpacks (also attached by the ID number that was provided to you), to the Parish Hall on Wednesday, August 10, between the hours of 5:00 & 8:00 p.m.
Thanks to your generosity, we will be making many families and children happy as they get excited to return to school with their new backpack!
Working wonders for people locally and around the world...
Our Lord encourages us with a timely reminder about what our actions truly should be – to show mercy to others. Does
showing mercy mean to take the time delivering food for the local food bank in our neighbourhood? Do we have time
to help by serving on a weekend in the soup kitchen in our city or praying for a family who is dealing with a personal
crisis? Or maybe the refugee family who needs some volunteer help resettling their family to a new life here in Canada. In
essence, ShareLife becomes that connective bridge between the pulpit and the street. When we are called to action in the
Catholic community, we know of so many ways we can make a difference by working together in the lives of those in need.
Annually, we share in helping over 114,000 individuals, thanks to the support received through our collective efforts.
Please help us celebrate our ShareLife's 40th anniversary by supporting our annual Archdiocesan appeal during this
Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto
"You do not have to look far to see the wonders being worked by ShareLife. . . in the pews of your parish, in the homes on
your street, in your neighbourhood. ShareLife agencies provide competent, faith-informed care to those who turn to
them for help, regardless of their beliefs or background. Last year, over 381,000 services were provided to over 114,000
people in our Archdiocese in more than 20 languages, receiving the compassion, care and respect they rightly deserve.
In addition, countless others were assisted through outreach programs around the world."
Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto
You are helping ShareLife agencies continue the valuable work they do for the poor and marginalized in our region by giving generously. You have made the path to new opportunities much easier for thousands of the most vulnerable in our communities. For those who wish to make a donation, you are still welcome to do so. You can drop your ShareLife envelopes in the offertory basket until July 31st or donate online at www.sharelife.org.
In our sharing, God will bless us abundantly. Thank you!
